MEET THE OWNERS John and Philomena O'Sullivan, bought Woodlands Country
House in 1965, the year they married. They have lovingly restored it over the
years. Philomena has a keen eye for antiques and has quite a collection, and
John is an avid gardener in his spare time. They have four children, two boys,
two girls, and one grandson so far !!!. Philomena started in the tourism
business in 1969, and has actively participated in the building up of the
tourism industry in the Wexford area. She is currently on the board of directors
for South East Tourism and Irish Farm Holidays. Philomena has some great stories
to tell on the history of the house, which was built in 1836, tales of made
matches, curses and lots more.... Philomena loves meeting new people and
always welcomes her guests with tea, coffee, hot scones and home preserves, and
most importantly, a friendly chat. She will also advise you on where to travel
and the best sights to see in the area... she will plan your route with you and
also advise you on the best accommodation on route. John has just recently
retired from Glanbia, where he managed the Inch Plant, home of Yoplait products
in Ireland. We say retired but you can't keep a good man down.... when he's not
helping out with his sons' businesses, he's in the garden growing flowers,
shrubs and veggies !! John is a great man about the house, and loves his home
and gardens.
Take a stroll with him and he will be only delighted to tell you about his home
and the wonderful gardens he has brought to maturity over the years.
