Sea Angling

Sea angling is an exciting sport for beginners and the experienced angler. Boat fishing competitions in recent years have seen up to 30 species coming to the scales; conger, ling, pollock and cod are some of the more common species caught. Licensed Charter Boats have only a short distance to travel to reach very productive banks and reefs. Numerous wrecks off the east and southwest Wexford coastline also add variety to the sport of rod and man.

Charter Boats

All of the boats listed are Department of the Marine licensed and fully insured. Fully equipped, fast purpose built boats, providing deep sea and wreck fishing for groups (max 10-12) or individuals. Pleasure and sightseeing charters can also be arranged; trips around the Saltee Islands are particularly enjoyable. Dolphins, seals, and rare bird species are just some of the wildlife to be observed. Wreck, reef and shark fishing are also a popular charter. Most Boats have tackle for hire and welcome children and newcomers to the sport. Contact the following for individual rates and expertise.

Coarse and Game Angling

The River Slaney is available to the public from the old bridge in Enniscorthy downstream. It holds good stocks of salmon and some sea trout; it is predominately a spring river. Short-term permits may be available for other beats. Small stocks of brown trout are available in some of the River's tributaries.

A four-acre lake outside of New Ross town provides an excellent facility for up to 70 rods fishing simultaneously.
